Cherating Beach, Pahang

We just returned from a weekend stay at Cherating beach with Emily and Linson. They came up with the idea on Thursday, so we met up at Telawi that same night to discuss logistics for the trip, and the rest was history.
Without hesitation, we chose to leave on Saturday morning. After breakfast in Selayang, we left KL at 10am. We arrived in Cherating around 1pm. As we did not make prior reservation for accomodations, we scouted around for a suitable place to stay. We settled for a chalet resort in Kampung Cherating itself which was close to the beach.

Reasonable room rates, very affordable….RM45 for room with fan, and RM90 for room with aircon. At sunset, we strolled to the beach and later took Moggy for her first offroading experience on the sandy terrain. Handling a rig on sandy stretches was a different kind of challenge that on the usual muddy trail, as over-throttling will cause your wheels to dig deeper into the ground. Linson and Emily took to the water while Jules and I, chilled out on the beach with Moggy.
Later in the evening, we headed for Chukai town in the district of Kemaman for seafood dinner at a popular restaurant known as Tong Juan some 15 minutes’ drive from our resort into the state of Terengganu. This restaurant is famous for its stuffed crab. Stuffed crab is crab shell stuffed with crab meat and some other ingredients, baked and served with their homemade chilli sauce.
Next day, breakfast from also at another popular place in Chukai called Kedai Kopi Hai Peng. They are famous for the coffee and also the local Nasi Dagang(Rice) and Roti Bakar(Toast with coconut-egg spread). This is the first time for both Linson and Emily. Breakfast was excellent and heavy, so we decided to skip lunch and bought some Satar(local otak-otak), which is some kind of fish cake wrapped with leaves and barbequed over charcoal. We also bought the famous keropok lekor, also a kind of fried fish cake. CLICK HERE for some info on the above.
We requested for a very late check-out, so we only left the resort at 6.30pm and returned to KL by 9.30pm.
